Why does my browser keep popping up dodgy adverts?

I have a problem whereby my browser sometimes pops up adverts, mostly for a dodgy debt consolidation company and an anti-virus program I've never heard of(which also does that annoying thing where it tells me it's going to ''scan'' my computer when I haven't installed anything in the first place, and have to press the close button). It's really starting to bug me and it has nothing to do with the websites I visit. How do I take off whatever's doing this?

Why is my laptop so slow?

I recently purchased 512mb of RAM for my hp pavilion ze5600 (Intel (R) Celeron (R) CPU 2.60 GHz it currently holds 706 of RAM. after I installed 512 mb card i notice little or no speed change when opening programs or files. I have McAfee virus scan installed as well as anti spyware software. I run these daily, but it seems my laptop does not run as fast as it should with all the RAM in it. My computer is fully updated as well (windows xp). Please help, I appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Your laptop is slow because its processor is weak and the memory is just not good enough.

I would advise getting a new laptop from dell. Your laptop specification is very weak. Intel celeron. wow! Get a laptop with at least a core duo processor, at least 1gb ram and an ati or nvidia video card. Windows Vista is here and your laptop cannot even pinch it talkless or running it.

If I'm understanding you. You originally had one 256MB RAM module and a second 512MB Ram module. So you replaced the 256MB RAM module with a 512MB module, thus making the total amount of installed RAM 1GB. Is this correct?

There is a huge misconcetion on RAM. Just as there is with hard disk space and deleting programs. I got best answer on a simlar question and what I wrote is below. But basically RAM only provides a larger operating space for you to run multiple and large programs at the same time without affecting system performance.

sometimes having an anti-spy or spy assasin isnt enough. when having problems like these the SOP should be always have a full system scan but in your case the only solution there is to reformat your pc. that may sound drastic but the way i see it the virus you got has already embedded itslef inside your pc meaning its already hard for it to be deleted and the only way is to reformat it.

Help me please my computer is in really bad shape?

Ok please people on yahoo answer help me my pc is really doing bad it turns its self off losing its internet and just is really slow and it bad shape i have an anti virus norton 2007 but whenever i run a scan the computer turns its self off and when i run a styam restore it says there are no dates to restore please help me i am really at my wits end and i talk to my mate and everything using windows live messenger and i will have no way of contecting them as i am disabled and when walking and running get tired within half an hour so please help me fix this any body who can help me futher plz do so

If the disk contains only MP3 files, then it is not infected; NAV is causing a false positive. I could have been able to answer better, had you specified which files were reported as infected and which particular viruses they were reported to contain. In any case, make sure that you're using the latest update of NAV.

If there is something else on the disk and if it is indeed infected, then the best solution is to copy the non-infected files to a new disk.

Copy the good files somewhere, and burn a new CD without the infected files.
Copy or back up the files of your cd by copying and pasting it in a folder(my documents/ desktop or any desired place in your hard disc) and virus scan it first by right clicking it %26 press ''scan for viruses'' or you can do it manually by selceting the desired location you want to scan so it will be clean before burning it in your cd( use a new cd by the way). hope my simple tip can help you

Because the viruses are writed on your CD you cant delete them so copy your good files that not infected then pathway your CD.

I have a simple question to ask. You see I had norton anti virus installed and I thought everything was good. Then one day it said my scanner couldn't run a full scan. I was a bit worried that some unknown virus had taken over it but I thought I was jumping to conclusions. Then I downloaded some better virus scanner, that was very good at picking out viruses. To my discovery I found over 21 viruses on my computer. Not only that but since I ran the scan, the viruses were programmed to react to this type of situation and began to attack the virus scanner. Well, it all worked out and I neutralized them all but I want to delete them off my computer to never again infect it. I tried using IE and it shuts me off and my computer doesn't allow me to search... what should I do?

Try a online antivirus scanner and a online anti-adware/malware/spyware scanner in safe mode with network to clean up your computer BEFORE you download anything.

Turn off system restore before you boot up in safe mode with network to clean your system restore points for viruses, spyware, adware etc.

To get in safe mode tap F8 when booting you computer.

Choose ''Safe mode with network''.

Go to Start 鈥?Run - type iexplore http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html Enter(ok).

Do a full system scan. If something is found, delete it, reboot and do the same again in safe mode with network.

You will never get rid of this.... that is how the search engines pay for your searches... by offering advertising space! You just have to make sure you have a pop-up blocker (available for all the search portals), and use it! That will eliminate some of it, but not all. The good news is these are not virii or spyware, but the links can lead to those, so don't click on them unless you are sure the site is a reputable one. If you download McAfee Site Advisor (free from McAfee), it will tell you whenever a site you visit is a good one, or will send you lots of spam or malware. It is another excellent tool and non-invasive of your resources. Good Luck!
