What's a pup file?

When my computer's anti-virus software did a scan this morning, it found a pup file and removed it. What is this?

Potentially unwanted programs, a term used for software you probably don't want installed, but isn't as annoying as adware, one example of PUP is spyware.

It's an 'installer' file. Some are okay - but if in doubt bin 'em!

PUP files are used to help resolve compiler-related problems in the EVM, and are not relevant to Java application debugging.

pup.exe is dangerous - its presence means that your computer is infected with adware Winpup, adware Ebates Moe Money Maker, adware LimeShop.
