System volume virus?

Ok so every time i scan my computer with a anti-spy ware and it reaches c:/ System Volume.. My virus detector goes crazy telling me that there is a virus call spring.generic/chepvil!generic there. Is it my anti-spy ware that its picking up when its a that spot or a real virus? (oh and when i run a vrus scan it never finds it)

System volume virus?virus

It's a mystery. I assumed it is a virus that is hiding in one of the Restore files.

But I can't find any web references to that virus except in a sales pitch for AntiSpyWare 2007.

Is that the program you are using?

Try these basic ideas:

1) Run %26gt; MsConfig . You can easily uncheck programs and SERVICES which load when you boot.

2) Check your browser history. On IE, click the icon which looks like a tiny sundial. Look for recently visited sites that look like adware.

Goto Tools %26gt; Internet Options %26gt; Security tab. Add the suspicious sites to the Restricted Sites list.

3) Get a firewall like ZoneAlarm.

4) Do an online scan with www.BitDefender.com .

If you continue to have problems, post another question. You might need to remove registry keys.

Good luck,
