I have been having this problem for a while. The computer will restart, at the point of booting up (after the shutdown phase) the fan in the computer will just run and the screen will be black, FOREVER. Until i restart it manually. Everytime this happens I have to go through 4 manual starts before the computer acts right. I have scanned the computer with Norton anti-virus and PC Doctor nothing was detected. I also restored the computer using the restore /recovery cd's, and it is still faulting. Are there any wizards out there that can help?

First of all, turn off auto-restart. That way, next time you will get a blue screen instead of a reboot. It will have an error code that may help. I would also turn on Windows Verifier, That way Windows can redflag any driver issue that may be causing this. To do this, go to start/run and type verifier . Then create a standards list, click ok, then select all unsigned drivers, click ok, and your done. If a driver is in fact the cause, you will get a message on the blue screen like " The video driver has attepted to corrupt the system, and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." These two things can go a long way towards figuring out the cause, and good luck!

it could be the psu failing ... make sure it isnt clogged with dust or a fan out to ..
Could be a problem with device drivers , hardware or software . This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html
