oh yes it could definitely be the pictures. How many gigs is your hard drive? If it is low, you should probably start finding an alternative place for those pictures such as a CD or a memory stick. My friend has an old DELL with a 4G hard drive... She decided to put pics from her camera on there and it completely slowed it down because it ate up alot of her space...
It could very well possible be the pictures because they take up space on the computer. Try uploading the pictures on the internet (e.g. use tinypic or photobucket). That way you can access your pictures and save a lot of room on your computer. Hope that helps!
