Computer virus?

Hey, Im trying to fix my moms computer and she told me that when she went to a website a pop-up window came up asking her to update her ActiveX so she hit ok.... after it got done installing, like every 10-15 min a window pops up saying "Error"

you have a dangerous virus on ur computer you need to download this Anti-spyware on your computer" Ofcourse i know its a virus. But I dont know how to get rid of it. I tried scanning and its still there. Checked fire walls. Still there. Help?

Restart your PC in safe mode

And run a full scan with both.
