im using broadband, and i've still got heaps of space before i reach my broadband limit. The problem is, whenever i open internet explorer, it takes forever to load the homepage, be it google, msn or whatever. and by right clicking the internet taskbar button in the takbar, the page loads quickly, but freezes (in a sense that you cant click on anything in the page). but after waiting for like ever(literally), the internet speeds up and access to everything else is as fast as it should be, normal, in other words. so i don't really know whats wrong.
why does it take so so so long to load the homepage, but after the homepage is loaded, everything else speeds up.
i have got norton anti virus by the way, and i've scanned my computer heaps but no virus or anything else like that has been detected. so yea.
some kind folk do shed some light on this. thanks :)
Slow internet only when loading homepage, but fast when loading anything else after that?vincent
i have a fast cable connection and notice if the computer has been sitting idle for a while and i all of a sudden try to open explorer it lags for a min....this is because the computer has to come out of idle mode. i did also notice that my opening Internet even when not being in a idle state took a odd amount of time to load up turned out to be spy-ware...it continues to send info back to its home and therefore bogs the crap out of any Internet connection...sometimes to the point where your ip provider will cut you off and tell you to have your computer cleaned of bugs/viruses before turning your Internet back on. my suggestion is to download and run a couple programs ( you can get them from download.com) ad-aware, spybot, superantispyware these 3 programs do a great job of keeping all my computers in tip top shape from all the on-line BS that attempts to overtake your setup.....good luck!

Try using blank homepage and check whether the speed is normal or not? if the problem persist then try McAfee antivirus instead of norton.
